Podcast of Champions – Another strong week for the Pac-12 with a record eight conference teams ranked in the AP Poll

In this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio recapping another strong performance by the Pac-12 in the non-conference schedule with some huge wins over major brands and now a record eight programs from the Conference of Champions ranked in the latest AP Poll.

Saturday morning things started off great for the Pac-12 with Colorado’s resounding win over Nebraska at home and Utah surviving their road trip to Baylor. Later in the day Washington rolled, Oregon squeaked by Texas Tech on the road and Arizona looked sloppy at Mississippi State, falling in overtime for the conference’s first loss of the season.

Washington State posted the most impressive win for the Pac-12 beating Wisconsin at home, UCLA rolled on the road against Pac-12 killer San Diego State and Oregon State had no problems with FCS UC Davis for the grand opening of the renovated Reser Stadium.

Pac-12 After Dark featured USC smoking Stanford in the conference opener, Arizona State struggled in a home loss to Oklahoma State and California outplayed Auburn at home but couldn’t close it out against the SEC school.

The guys talk about all of those games and Washington State and Oregon State filing an injunction against the Pac-12 and George Kliavkoff, trying to retain control of the conferences assets as the rest of the programs leave for greener pastures.

As usual Ryan and Dave end the podcast answering listener emails and questions from the YouTube chat.

In this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio to preview what could be another epic weekend of Pac-12 football. Podcast of Champions – Pac-12 goes unscathed in week one including Colorado’s huge TCU upset and Califord to the ACC

In this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio to recap an absolutely stunning weekend of Pac-12 football where everyone, and we mean everyone, scored more points than their opposition. Including USC’s week zero win, the Conference of Champions is 13-0 to start it’s final season in existence and is the first conference to start off with 13 wins since at least 1980.

Coach Prime and Colorado were the talk of week one, stunning No. 17 TCU on the road behind impressive performances behind Travis Hunter on both sides of the ball and quarterback Shedeur Sanders who threw for 510 yards and four touchdowns.

Cal scored 50 points for the first time since 2016, Utah clobbered Florida missing several key starters, Oregon scored 81, Washington rolled over Boise State, Oregon State dominated a tough San Jose State squad on the road and Arizona State sneaked out a win during a haboob dust storm that delayed their game nearly three hours.

The guys breakdown what impressed them from all of the games from opening weekend and reveal their Pac-12 Power Rankings that feature a new No. 1 team and Colorado moving up to the top half of the Conference of Champions.

Before the games even got started the news broke that Califord, California and Stanford, would be joining the Atlantic Coast Conference along with SMU starting in the 2024 season. The move leaves only two programs left in the Pac-12, Oregon State and Washington State. The guys talk about what options are left for the Beavers and Cougars with time running out to figure out their futures.

As usual Ryan and Dave end the podcast answering listener emails and questions from the YouTube chat.

Podcast of Champions – After a week zero taste, Pac-12 football is fully back with 12 week one games to preview and pick

In this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio talking about the first real week of Pac-12 football with the entire Conference of Champions in action with a variety of out of conference games. Last week we got a little taste of Pac-12 football with USC taking care of business against San Jose State. This week we get a lot more excitement starting on Thursday night when the Florida Gators make the trip to Salt Lake City to take on the Utah Utes. Kenny Dillingham also gets his head coaching career started on Thursday night when the Sun Devils host Southern Utah.

On Friday Stanford takes an interesting road trip to take on Hawaii, a team that fought hard in their week zero loss to Vanderbilt. Then on Saturday we have some cupcake games but also a few interesting contests including Colorado at TCU, Boise State at Washington, California visiting (!!!) North Texas and Washington State at (!!!) Colorado State. Opening weekend wraps up with a Sunday afternoon showdown with Oregon State visiting San Jose State. The Beavers should be great this season but this one is on the road, SJSU has already played a game and was within a touchdown against USC in the Coliseum.

The guys also discuss some of the other news and notes from around the conference including the bizarre self imposed postseason ban by Arizona State athletic director Ray Anderson and the Bay Area schools’ efforts to join the ACC.

As usual Ryan and Dave end the podcast answering listener emails and questions from the YouTube chat.

Podcast of Champions – USC hires Jen Cohen from UW, picking every Pac-12 football game for 2023 plus our week zero preview

In this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio talking about actual Pac-12 football as we are just days away from the kickoff of the 2023 college football season. Before the start of each Pac-12 football campaign Ryan and Dave go through the entire schedule and document their picks for each program in the Conference of Champions, including the eventual winner in Las Vegas. They also begin their game previews and picks against the spread in this episode (with only week zero game on the schedule), San Jose State visiting USC on Saturday night.

The show starts off with the breaking news that USC has hired away Jennifer Cohen from Washington to become the Trojans new athletic director.

It should be an exciting final season in the Pac-12 with as many as six teams in the mix to win the last Conference of Champions championship. On paper the Pac-12 appears to have an upper class and a middle class and it will be interesting to see if any of those lower ranked teams are able to jump up and derail the season for the programs in the upper half of the standings. Ryan and Dave reveal which teams they are believing in and which teams they think are the bottom dwellers in the conference as they reveal their game by game picks and prediction for regular season records.

For week zero there is only one Pac-12 program in action, the USC Trojans. Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams leads the way against San Jose State at 5pm Saturday night in the Coliseum. The guys give their pick against the 30.5 point spread and start their season long contest of game picking prowess.

As usual Ryan and Dave end the podcast answering listener emails and questions from the YouTube chat.

Podcast of Champions – Part two of our Pac-12 football previews including UW, Oregon and Utah

In this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio and once again trying very hard to not talk about conference realignment. Next weekend we have actual football with USC hosting San Jose State in week zero plus Utah welcoming Florida to Salt Lake City and Arizona State facing Southern Utah on Thursday, August 31. To honor the long awaited start to the 2023 college football season (and the final one for the Pac-12 conference as we know it), we are continuing with our team season previews.

Last week we previewed USC, UCLA, Arizona , Arizona State, Colorado and Oregon State so this week we will focus on Oregon, Utah, Washington, Washington State, Stanford and California hearing from the 247Sports publishers of their respective sites.

The guys also go over some of the other news and notes from around the conference including the newly released AP Poll that includes USC (6), Washington (10), Utah (14), Oregon (15) and Oregon State (18) with UCLA also receiving some votes.

As usual Ryan and Dave end the podcast answering listener emails and questions from the YouTube chat.

Podcast of Champions – Part one of our Pac-12 football previews (actual football talk)

In this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio and NOT talking about conference realignment (well, maybe a little). With the opening weekend of the 2023 college football season just a couple of weeks away the guys jump right in with their Pac-12 previews. For months all of the focus has been on the pending demise of the Pac-12 conference, which finally came to fruition last week. But the last year of the Conference of Champions should be an epic one, with half the conference having a legit shot at winning the title, several of the top quarterbacks in the country and three exciting new coaches including Coach Prime in Colorado.

This week the focus is on previewing the Arizona Wildcats, Arizona State Sun Devils, Colorado Buffaloes, Oregon State Beavers, USC Trojans and the UCLA Bruins.

After the previews the guys talk about the latest rumors surrounding Cal and Stanford potentially going to the ACC, what could happen with Washington State and Oregon State and the newly released preseason coaches poll. Also, does commissioner George Kliavkoff have a future with the entity formerly known as the Conference of Champions?

As usual Ryan and Dave end the podcast answering listener emails and questions from the YouTube chat.

EMERGENCY Podcast of Champions – RIP to the premier athletic conference on the West Coast

In another special EMERGENCY episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back discussing the sad and disappointing news that the Pac-12, the premier athletic conference on the West Coast for more than 100 years, is dead. The Conference of Champions was listing for the past 13 months after it’s hull was breached by the USC and UCLA defection torpedoes. There was a path to save the ship but commissioner George Kliavkoff seemingly made the situation worse at every turn, allowing for the final death blow from Oregon and Washington on Friday followed by Arizona, Arizona State and Utah getting off the sinking ship thanks to a Big 12 life raft.

The guys talk about this shocking development that comes just two weeks after the commissioner assured the college football world on Pac-12 Media Day that everything was going to alright. It wasn’t and it wasn’t close.

Now we have to wait and see what happens with the remaining four members, Stanford, California, Oregon State and Washington State, who are unfortunate casualties in the conference realignment madness.

Podcast of Champions – The rumored Pac-12 media rights deal & more potential Big Ten expansion

In this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back in studio talking about the reported new Pac-12 media rights deal that commissioner George Kliavkoff presented to the remaining nine presidents and chancellors. According to reports the top deal on the table is heavy into streaming with Apple TV carrying the majority of the games with a separate Pac-12 package that would be available for purchase. The reported revenue is below what the Big 12 has with ESPN and Fox, but there are revenue boosters that kick in when more fans subscribe.

There is also multiple reports that the Big Ten is looking to expand further with their sights set on Oregon and Washington with the possibility of adding Stanford and California as well. Clemson and Florida State were also mentioned, but both of those programs are locked up for years with the ACC’s grant of rights deal.

EMERGENCY Podcast of Champions – Colorado is leaving the Pac-12 for the Big 12

In this special EMERGENCY episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods rushed into the studio to talk about the BREAKING NEWS that Colorado is planning on leaving the Pac-12 and joining the Big 12. Of course our own Mr. Woods was the first to report this months ago, but with real reporters putting this out there now appears to be much more official.

The guys talk about this shocking development just days after Pac-12 Media Day where commissioner George Kliavkoff said a media rights deal was imminent and that all 10 member institutions would be sticking together.
